Write for us
We welcome pitches that help readers see screen images more clearly, with a focused question, a distinct point of view, and room for careful visual description.
What to pitch
Propose an original piece about framing, composition, editing, visual motifs, or screen history. A strong pitch names its central question, explains what the reader will learn to notice, and identifies a specific example or visual problem without relying on invented access or unsupported claims.
The shape of a good contribution
We value precise language, a clear line of thought, and interpretations grounded in details a reader can examine. Avoid treating visual conventions as fixed codes or claiming to know a creator’s intention without evidence. We consider explanatory essays, comparisons, and carefully bounded visual analyses.
Send a proposal
Send pitches and writing proposals through the Contact page, choosing the editorial option and including a short outline and any relevant writing sample details. Please do not submit a complete commissioned-length piece unless requested.
